"SWIPE RIGHT" by Forest Blakk

The poem in original length can be found here.

The poem was chosen because it reflects today's society in a multimedia and highly digital world. Feeling judged on social media and being dependent on likes is a feeling which lots of teenagers experience nowadays. "Swipe right" by Forest blakk portrays how dangerous judgmental behavior can be for the individual.

First, the poem was shortened. Then, each poem line was interpreted individually, as can be seen on the left picture. Yellow marked passages were seen as especially important. All notes on the side reflect first ideas that came into mind while reading.

Ultimately, the poem had to be shortened even further to meet the 60 second length of the animatic. Attention was drawn to keeping the most important poem lines while still delivering a coherent narrative.

The final poem focuses on an individual's experience while using different social media apps, such as Tinder and Instagram. Being constantly in discrepancy between trying to find a soulmate on the Internet and expecting too much of a person that is basically a stranger, the user eventually deletes the app when realising that he could find himself easily in the situation of being judged and frowned upon on the Internet as well.
